Born in 1835 in Norwich. Son of Robert Chamberlin. Brother to Sir George Moore Chamberlain who was mayor in 1891. Wife Agnes, daughter of James Marshall of Holland Park, London. Mayor in 1892. Educated at Switzerland and at Worksop, Nottinghamshire. Director of Chamberlins Ltd., sheriff and magistrate in 1873, and deputy lieutenant for Norfolk in 1893. Chairman of the Waterworks Company, director of Yarmouth Waterworks, and the Lowestoft Water and Gas Co., and of the Norwich Crape Co. in 1856.
