Lord Coleraine died in 1749 leaving his estates to his illegitimate daughter, Henrietta du Plessis who was born in Italy in 1745. A lengthy lawsuit ensued and Thomas Francis was appointed receiver. Gout frequently prevented him from coming to Norfolk and Thomas Dixon, attorney at law, Islington, continued to act as steward. Chancery Lane.

Eldest son of the justice, William Paston (1378-1444). John married Margaret Mauteby, a Norfolk heiress, who was cousin to Sir John Fastolf. After his father's death, John Paston divided his time between his estates in Norfolk and his chambers in the Temple in London. In the 1450s, he undertook legal business for Sir John Fastolf of Caister Castle and was the main beneficiary of Fastolf's will.
