James Lewton Brain married 1877 Clare Lawrence; they were headmaster and mistress of elementary school at Swanton Morley. She started cookery classes at village school for some of the girls using own kitchen at the schoolhouse and later for some of the mothers and other village women. Their fifth and youngest child was Charles (Charlie or Tardie) Henry Lewton Brain, Diana Lewton Brain's father, b. 1890; m. at Heacham 1920 Evelyn Pull (1888-1967). He served in the Royal Artillery, 1914-18, first in France, then in Palestine and Egypt.

Charles/Tardie worked in Barclays' bank and they lived at South Woodford from 1920, but took holidays at Heacham and moved there altogether in 1948. In wartime DLB served in the ATS. She was a schoolteacher at the Blyth School, Norwich, from 1957, and in 1963 moved to King's Lynn as Head of Department Modern Languages at King's Lynn Girls' High School, and lived at Hampton Court in Lynn. From 1967, she taught in Kenya, returning to England in 1974, when she obtained the post of Head of Modern Languages at the Technical College at Lynn (NROCAT; later the College of West Anglia). In 1978, she moved to Sedgeford with her father. In 2003, she moved back to King's Lynn.

Hillary William Neale was born in 1823 in Norfolk and at the age of 32 he sailed to Australia arriving New Year's Day 1856. He died 24 November 1895.
Hillary Neale's great-nephew, Augustus Frederick (Lyn) Golding Neale, was born 16 September 1882 in King's Lynn Norfolk and died 8 July 1941. He married Annie Mary Gates in 1912. Soon afterwards they moved to Buenos Aires, where Frederick was working for Agar Cross and Company. They had three children, Frederick James, Kathleen Mary Smallwood and Barbara Jessie Gates. They returned to England in 1919 and Frederick began working for Brunner Mond, which later became Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), where he remained for the rest of his working life.
Barbara Jessie Gates O'Rand (née Neale) was born on 9 July 1942 and died 20 January 2009. She began compiling a transcript of her father's diaries and letters in 1992 and privately published a detailed history of his family in 2005.

Kelly's Directory records the Phillipo family as farmers in Hevingham between 1865 and 1937 but it is possible that they were in residence prior to this date.
