Administrative history

In the Diocese of Norwich. Until 1894 the Archdeaconry of Norwich comprised the Deaneries of Blofield, Breccles, Brisley, Flegg (including Gt Yarmouth), Holt, Ingworth, Lynn (including King’s Lynn), Lynn Marshland, Norwich, Sparham, Taverham, Thetford, Toftrees and Walsingham. In 1894 the boundaries were re-drawn and the Archdeaconry of Lynn was created, the Archdeaconry of Norwich thereafter comprised Blofield, Flegg, Holt, Ingworth, Norwich, Repps, Sparham, Taverham and Waxham.

Visitation and register of 'ornaments' [ornaments, vestments, books, etc] in archdeaconry of Norwich, made by William de Swyneflet, archdeacon of Norwich, with an account of synodals, Peter's Pence, etc. Some additions 14th century-15th century. Containing Bond for appearance of Wm atte Grene, vicar of East Dereham (f 149v) (1387), and index of deaneries (17th cent) 1368 held by The National Archives, Exchequer: King's Remembrancer: Miscellaneous Books series 1, reference E 164/30.
